Gwen Plitt
Gwen is a performer, music and drama educator, and choral director based in Kelowna BC. She has been conducting award winning and audience pleasing choirs for over 25 years, and is in demand as a clinician and conductor. Her energy and enthusiasm for choral music has been shared with choirs in schools from elementary to college, and church and community settings. She has recently taken on the role of Associate Conductor of the Kelowna Youth Choir (KCMS).
Gwen holds a BEd degree (Music/Drama) from the University of Alberta, a performance diploma from Grant MacEwan University, and studied choral conducting with Dr. Gordon Hafso and Dr. Barry Bromley (Concordia College Edmonton, AB), and Dr. Leonard Ratzlaff (U of A). She continues to study voice with Alexandra Babbel. In addition to choral conducting and teaching, Gwen has been vocal director for numerous musical theatre productions. She has performed with many theatre groups and choirs in Edmonton, with TUTS (Vancouver), RCMT (New Westminster), and MASK and Encore! (Kelowna). She has been a guest artist with the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra and Kelowna City Band. Gwen is well known locally for lead musical roles in audience favourites including “The King and I”, “South Pacific”, “Into the Woods” and “The Sound of Music”. |
