Kelowna youth choir (KCMS)The Kelowna Youth Choir is an award winning community based choir, operated by the Kelowna Community Music School. The youth portion consists of singers age 11 - 17, the children's portion of singers age 7 - 10. We rehearse weekly at the Rotary Centre for the Arts, and perform at multiple venues throughout the city, across the season. Partnerships have included Opera Kelowna, Spectrum Singers, Okanagan Festival Singers, the KCMS String Ensembles, faculty and students. Our 2018 ensemble was proud to be recent recipients of the Adjudicators Shining Star Award, and was been named RUNNER-UP in the Province of BC (second over all).
Artistic Director Laura Mireau, Assistant Director Gwen Plitt, and Accompanist Ursula Pidgeon form the dynamic backbone of this ensemble, whose mandate is to: enrich the lives of children and youth in the community by providing access to high quality training in vocal technique, theory and aural skills whilst maximizing musical, personal and social development through performance opportunities.
